Black Water Rafting And Skydiving

Before leaving Waitomo I had the chance to do Black Water Rafting! It consisted of a 35metre abseil down into a hole and then wondering around the caves, climbing waterfalls, going down a zip wire and paddling along on inflatables.

I got to see the Glow worms as well as a few eels along the way! I loved every second and it was great fun. Here is a group photo:

After we were all kitted up in our fetching outfits we headed to the caves for a little abseil training.

Here is a photo of me abseiling down into the caves (35metres):

After leaving Waitomo we headed for Taupo. On the way we stopped off at an amazing waterfall (have pictures but they are coming soon).

I had booked a 15,000ft skydive and headed to the airfield only to find out they were running out of light and didn’t have time to fit us in meaning that I was going at 7am the following morning!

I decided to head out with my room mates for a few beers anyway and luckily felt fine in the morning. The bus came and took us to the airfield and we got all our gear on and headed for the plane. I met my tandem master, his name was Damo.

Because I was doing the 15,000ft jump we had to have oxygen on the plane:

Because we were nearest the door and had a cameraman we had to jump first, we eased to the edge of the door and I hung over the edge and then Damo pushed us out:

Heading towards Earth:

I had ‘Hi Mum’ written on my hands but sadly you can’t see it too well:

Nearly down:

The jump was amazing and I can’t really put it into words but if you have never done one you have to try it! I paid extra and had a cameraman jump with us so I have a DVD of the whole thing too, very funny to watch!

So what I am upto today? Nothing much really. Going to do some shopping as I need some things and then tonight will be in the bar next to the hostel. Won’t be stopping out too late though as I head East tomorrow on the bus.

Take care all! :)
