The Bottom Bus
I have left Queenstown and am on a trip called ‘The Bottom Bus’. The first stop was Dunedin which is a nice city with a lot of history. I only stayed one night there and decided to go to the cinema to see the new Rambo film (the film is awesome by the way)
The next day we went to Invercargill and spent a lot of the day doing walks and seeing the amazing scenery. In the evening we all went to the pub and had a nice meal together.
Having left Invercargill we are now in Te Anau. Today has been quite interesting actually and has been a good laugh. We stopped off somewhere where the girls could make jewelery and then headed to a farm. The farm was great fun, some people got to feed the lambs with a bottle and others got to ride the quad bikes which pulled the trailers with us in. We then saw sheep getting sheared and we all had chance to have a go. I opted not to because I didn’t fancy getting filthy.
We then stopped at McCracken’s Rest for a photo opportunity (I think you can guess what is in the photos)!!! I have now checked into the hostel (which seems a bit rubbish to be honest) but tomorrow we are off on a Milford Sound day trip which I am looking forward to. After that we arrive back in Queenstown where I am staying for 5 nights. I have decided not to stay in the hostel where everyone is as I hate it there and you get no sleep so I have opted for a bit of luxury (YHA)!
Take care all
P.S. Sorry for the lack of photos, when I get back to Queenstown I promise that I will get some on here!
P.P.S. Forgot to mention I saw wild seals and sea lions! I also have some great photos of them as I walked right up close to them.
Hey dude!
Who is your driver? I had Jarrod, what a cheeky chappy from Dunedin he was!
Disco Lodge is just an easy default place to stay as Kiwi Exp have reserved places. However, if you find that moving to the YHA is a little expensive, then you can try Southern Laughter – it’s just a little up the hill (up the stairs round the corner from Disco Lodge, past Buffalo Bar) and is still central, mega comfy, small 4 bed dorms with their own living area and FREE soup at 6pm – it’s an awesome soup that fills you up and saves the $ on food. It’s around £25 per night but totally worth it – I think I spent around 3 weeks there in total. So you gotta give it a try is YHA doesn’t work out. Glad you are having a great time. It’s a little over a year ago since I moved to Queenstown…I miss it so much! Is there any snow on the mountains yet or is it still a little warm so the sun keeps burning it off?

Sorry, I meant that Southern Laughter was $25 per night, NOT £25! That’s WAY too expensive in kiwi land!
