Milford Sound

The last day of the Bottom Bus was a trip to Milford Sound. Apparently only 1 in 3 Kiwi’s have actually been there which is very surprising.
The day started off pretty bad because of the weather, it chucked it down nearly all day. According to our driver this was a good thing as it means there are more waterfalls and the ones that already exist flow better making for better photo opportunities. All I can say is thank god I have a rain coat!

After a few photo stops (which seemed rather pointless in the poor weather) we arrived at the ferry terminal. The ferry was quite large and we had our own section to sit in which was nice. The ferry ride consisted of a free buffet but to be honest it wasn’t all that nice but I ate it anyway. Here are a couple of photos:

We were taken to an underwater observatory which has been built so you can see all the fish and other creatures living in there natural habitat. It was impossible to take good photos in there due to the glass but was interested nevertheless.

After jumping back on the ferry we headed for the terminal where our big green Kiwi bus was awaiting us. It then headed back to Queenstown via Te Anau. The journey wasn’t that painful thanks to the driver putting on a movie (Super Bad).

On the way back we stopped off for a photo of the sunset by the mountains:

So I have arrived back in Queenstown and have my own room for a minimum of 5 nights which is nice. Decided to have a bit of a lay in this morning and am planning of having a relaxing day.

Pictures from the last few weeks will be in the next post :)

You are lucky that it rained in Milford – check out those waterfalls! We’d not had rain for days when I went, so they weren’t half as spectacular!

The rain was more annoying than anything but I still had a good day. The views were awesome!

As for drivers who have been driving the buses I have been on so many buses so can’t remember them all.
    Here are some:

Smiley, Jarrod, Kane, Pam, Dillon, Dave, Andy, Matty, Jerky Berky etc
